Stoneware Oval Bottle (artist # 9402)

This bottle has a strong, beautiful presence. I'm sure it's the effect of the Iron oxide wash brushed on the bottle's exterior. The contrast between the dark blue spout and dark surface of the form is dramatic like Bottle #9378.

The bottle is inspired by a watermelon grown in our garden. First, the spout is wheel-thrown and has a touch of glaze. Next, the bottle's exterior was coated with iron oxide and carved into it to create the textured surface. Finally, its interior is glazed with Indigo Blue.
