Stoneware Bottle (artist# 1776)
This handmade bottle is one of the first bottles we ever made. I love its unadorned simplicity. Like other bottles that were to follow, its form is from an oval watermelon grown in our garden. The bottle's exterior is carved and unglazed. Its interior is glazed with Red Iron glaze, one we don't often use now. The spout, slightly tilted off-center, is wheel thrown with a touch glaze. It is a beautifully simple piece that can be used as a wine carafe, a water jug, or a vase.
