Mid-Summer Favorite Bowls
Nature provided the shapes, and Steve turned them into art.
Our stoneware Favorite Bowls are among our most artistic designs. Each bowl is unique, made with molds from squashes and gourds grown in our garden, imperfections included. Steve pressed coils of stoneware and porcelain clay into the molds, choosing the clay colors, texture, and pattern for each bowl. He decided which bowls would be tall or short. Sometimes Steve smoothed the squash-like texture; other times he kept the gourd’s bumpy surface. Each bowl results from careful choices and creativity.
P.S. I call them Favorite Bowls because they are some of my favorites, always surprising me when I take them out of the kiln.
