Pre-Order: Stoneware CRUCIBLE BREAD BOWL (with the potter's bread recipe)

 

PLEASE NOTE: Your Crucible is a pre-order. We are a small clay studio, and we custom make our Crucibles rather than guess what will sell. We will ship them out to you in April 2024 and promise to keep you informed on the progress of your order, from the bowl's creation to its final firing. Thanks for your understanding.

Our Crucibles started as something other than a bread bowl, a bowl with heart and earthy heft. Early on, when a customer placed a Crucible between her hands and said: "I bet I can bake a loaf of bread in this", we believed we had created a unique bowl. 

Steve Skinner (my partner in clay) hand-builds each Crucible using a traditional coiling technique. We fire our Crucibles in a scorching (2300 degrees) gas reduction kiln that can have a mind of its own. My photos of the different glazes are my attempt to be as accurate as I can. Our kiln and our glazes love to create variations. Your Crucible will indeed be one-of-a-kind. 

Each order gets a booklet -- Bread & Crucible -- which includes our bread recipe and why I named it a "crucible."
