Stoneware Wall Platter

This beautiful one-of-a-kind stoneware wall platter was hand-built by Steve who used its surface as a clay "canvas" to experiment with carefully selected glazes. He fired the platter in an extremely hot kiln at 2300 degrees Fahrenheit. The intense heat and atmosphere inside the kiln dramatically altered the platter's colors, deepening the natural hue of the clay and enhancing the luminoisity and subtlety of the blues, greens, oranges, and yellows in the glazes. The heat from the kiln also created fissures on the surface of the stoneware, adding to the dynamic quality of the pieces. The platter is designed solely as a decorative piece and is not functional.

The platter's underside is unglazed and fitted with a wire fitting for hanging.
