Stoneware Shroom with Porcelain (Artist #3499)

Woods surround our studio. On an afternoon walk, Steve came upon giant mushrooms with tops resembling bowls in which water had accumulated. This bowl, one of a series Steve calls Shrooms, is inspired by these intriguing fungi shapes. 

This Shroom is sculpted with stoneware. The Shroom's interior has a second layer of stretched porcelain and an incised line glazed with Creme Brulee. The Shroom's exterior is unglazed to reflect the colors and texture of natural clay. Steve added three little feet, which allows the form to stand upright yet be round at its bottom.
